our story

Established by John and Ruth Ferraro, the Ferraro Garden Spot has been family owned and run since 1954.  After his father’s passing, Ken, the youngest son of John and Ruth took over the garden store and began running it with his wife, Claudia. Throughout the years, the staff has consisted of various friends and family with gardening expertise, including two of their three daughters, Michelle and Alicia.

We are located just south of Dundee on Skokie Boulevard — situated between the Starbucks and the 900 buildings. If you are traveling north on 94, get off at Dundee West and if you’re traveling south on 41 / 94, take the Lake Cook Exit and head south on Skokie Boulevard.

With everything going on in the world, it feels like this is a reminder for us all to simply be human. This pandemic came at a time when there was a lot of hate and division filling the atmosphere and this crisis might be serving as a reset on human
